On this page from Canada's digital archive: http://66.241.252.164/digital-archive/profile.cfm?collectionid=896&cnf=cf can be seen a flag which according to the caption and accompanying text was flown by Canadian peacekeepers in the Congo in 1961. The flag is similar to the current national flag but with blue bands and with a red maple leaf with extra points.
